The “New” California Republican Party Asks the Same Old Question

While a new California Republican Party chair might have more moves and different priorities than his predecessor, there’s no way to avoid the fact that the primary focus of the job is to elect more Republicans. GOP Chair Jim Brulte makes that point in Item #1 of the May 1 electronically-sent missive  below.    Read more »

Sacramento Has Apparently Been Annexed By Los Angeles

Eric Garcetti is running for Los Angeles mayor “with a focus on job creation and solving everyday problems for LA residents,” his campaign biography says.

He was president of the Los Angeles City Council from 2006 to 2012.

Additionally, the biography notes that Garcetti was raised in the San Fernando Valley, graduated from Columbia University, was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford and the London School of Economics and taught at Occidental College and the University of Southern California.    Read more »

Go Ahead, Bite the Big Apple!

“Don’t mind the maggots,” adds Mick Jagger on “Shattered.”

Although the airfare might be getting a bit dear with just 72 hours until flight time, there’s still space to spend a long weekend with Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva, a Fullerton Democrat, and her guest Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, also an Orange County Democrat.    Read more »

Tim Donnelly, Possible GOP Contender for Governor

The Assemblyman from Hesperia wants Californians to tell him whether he should enter the fray of the 2014 gubernatorial election  for a chance to be thrashed by whomever the Democrats nominate. Despite being posted on Facebook, the following is unlikely to resonate with enough of the California’s 3.7 million regitstered independent voters — even more by the time the eleciton rolls around — who now are the key to statewide elections.     Read more »

Do These Questions Really Reveal the “Truth About Republicans?”

In a four-page letter that, no doubt, House Speaker John Boehner wept over numerous times while composing, he urges his fellow Americans to counter “liberal talking points saturating the media airwaves.”

Apparently, Democrats in Congress and their “liberal special interest allies” as well as their allies in the media “slanting coverage in favor of the liberal point-of-view” are misrepresenting the Republican Party  and attacking its “conservative, pro-jobs agenda.”    Read more »

Sacramento: Where The Fundraising Never Stops

It being an even-numbered year, fundraising doesn’t stop when lawmakers adjourn on August 31 – particularly for new candidates for legislative seats.

They will venture to Sacramento, early and often, because that’s where the lobbyists and the trade associations are that can write the checks from $1,000 and to $3,900.

Bill Quirk, candidate for the 20th Assembly District, holds a Sacramento fundraiser September 11.    Read more »
