They Just Keep Getting Windier and Windier — Chuck DeVore’s Latest Campaign Missive

Dear Fellow American,

More than once she’s been rated “
the most liberal” member of the U.S. Senate.

The nonpartisan “Almanac of American Politics” described her as “the personification of the feminist left.

And one commentator called her “the political equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard.”

Her name is Barbara Boxer.

And she’s up for re-election.

My reason for sending you this email today is to personally ask you to help me defeat her.

To get Barbara Boxer out of Washington once and for all. We are trying to raise about $15,000 in the next 5 days. Will you help make a donation to our cause?

If you’ve followed politics at all for the last 25 years I’m sure you know all about Barbara Boxer.

  • You know she did everything she could to block President Reagan’s foreign policy during the 1980s.
  • That she was the loudest voice opposing the 1991 Persian Gulf War.
  • That she’s been a cheerleader for every gun restriction ever considered in Congress.
  • That she organized a march against Clarence Thomas when Anita Hill was testifying on Capitol Hill.
  • That she bounced 87 checks in the House Bank Scandal.
  • That she led filibusters against oil drilling in Alaska…
  • …against the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito.
  • …and against former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton.
  • And that she’s the author of the so-called “Freedom of Choice Act” that would eliminate EVERY pro-life law in the country.
  •

The fact of the matter is they really don’t come more liberal than Barbara Boxer.

Her lifetime American Conservative Union rating is just 3 on a scale of 1 to 100.

To put that in perspective, avowed socialist Bernie Sanders has a lifetime ACU rating of 6.

More liberal than even a socialist, Barbara Boxer is wrong, wrong, wrong for America and has been a complete and total disaster in the Senate.

Her agenda and record is clear.  Every day she works to:

***        Raise your taxes
***        Spend your money
***        Undercut America’s traditional values
***        And weaken our military and intelligence operations

On almost every major issue during the past quarter century…

…Barbara Boxer has been on the wrong side of history.

Now it’s time to get her out of the Senate.

And supporting my campaign is YOUR CHANCE to help turn that goal into a reality.

Make no mistake, it’s not going to be easy.

But it can be done.

In fact, a recent poll found her job approval rating stood at just 45%.

Anytime an incumbent is below 50% they have real cause for concern.

With the right candidate and enough money, we can definitely beat her.

But it’s going to take a national effort.

And I’m urgently counting on you to help me.

Many of you know me already. I’m a father, a husband, a veteran, a proven vote winner, a state Assemblyman, and a rock solid Republican who’s won several “Legislator of the Year” awards from conservative organizations.

On matters of public policy, I’m the polar opposite of Barbara Boxer.

—         Barbara Boxer wants higher taxes and higher spending. I believe in cutting taxes and slashing spending and I’ve got a record to back it up.

 —         Barbara Boxer supported the effort to enact gay marriage in California and has been called “the most dogged foe of unborn human life in the U.S. Senate.”  I, along with the majority of Californians, oppose gay marriage and I’m 100% pro-life.

 —         Barbara Boxer is an extreme environmentalist who opposes affordable domestic energy production such as off-shore drilling, Alaskan oil, and modern nuclear power. I’ve been a leader in promoting new solutions for our energy crisis including safe and reliable mondern nuclear power and environmentally-safe slant drilling to extract oil off-shore.

 —         Barbara Boxer was one of only a handful of Senators who voted against the “Protect America Act” last year – legislation our intelligence leaders said they desperately needed.  I’m a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army retired Reserves and I know firsthand what it takes to defend our country.

In short, I’m a common-sense conservative with the record and experience to take on Barbara Boxer and defeat her in a head-to-head battle.

I can rally the Republican base…

 …appeal to independents…

…and even reach out to moderate Democrats who don’t agree with Boxer’s extremism.

But to win, I urgently need your help.

So let me ask a simple question:

How much are you willing to give to get Barbara Boxer out of the Senate?

Are you willing to give $25? How about $50 or $100? More?

The fact is every single dollar you can send will help.

I’m even counting on some generous Americans to step forward with contributions like $500 or even $1,000.

But

 Think about it.

Just $25 to help get Barbara Boxer out of the Senate.

 Isn’t it worth that?

It’s early in the game but I’m already running as hard as I can in this race.

To beat an incumbent like Barbara Boxer I need your help right now.

 So please don’t hesitate.

Help me get Barbara Boxer out of the Senate.  Help me bring my commonsense conservative vote to Washington.

 Join my campaign
today by making a contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or more back to me right now!

 Sincerely,

 Chuck DeVore
 California State Assemblyman
Candidate for U.S. Senate for 2010

  1. I guess Chuck hasn’t checked the Legislature’s approval ratings….17% Senator Boxer’s 45% is looking pretty good in comparison. Using the DeVore 50% standard, I’d say he is generating a huge cause for concern.

  2. Dear Scribe:

Is it just me or do you get the feeling we can’t seem to accomplish anything in the Capitol unless it involves running for another office or getting re-elected?

One group is hot on a water deal that has existed for 40 years. Another wants prison reform or the fed judge becomes boss. Then there’s the whole deal of mandating renewable power in a state where it is difficult to build one or a transmission line to send it.

And the governor’s response to all this is to probably call another special session. And you keep writing about this ding-dong running to take out Boxer.

  3. I am tired of right-wing extremists going after those who care about people and the environment. Haven’t you heard of global warming and don’t you care about what that will do to the economy or are you only interested in today’s profit? As for off shore oil drilling- it isn’t safe and if you need proof just look at what is going on in Australia right this moment. That rig uses the latest and best technology available. If that happened at one of the off shore wells along our coast, we would be feeling the economic impacts of it for the rest of this century
