News Would Have Been If She Got Less Than 100 Percent

HANCOCK RECEIVES 100% RATING IN SUPPORT OF WORKERS

STATE LABOR FEDERATION’S “FORCE FOR PROGRESS” SCORECARD GIVES HANCOCK PERFECT SCORE

Sacramento — Senator Loni Hancock, an Oakland Democrat, announced January 17 that she has received a perfect score on issues relating to workers’ rights and worker protection from the California Labor Federation. Sen. Hancock received the 100 percent rating based on her votes on 33 bills that (the union said) mattered most to California’s working families during 2011.

“We salute Senator Hancock’s unwavering commitment to the California labor movement’s agenda of creating better jobs, stronger communities and greater opportunity for workers,” said California Labor Federation Executive Secretary-Treasurer Art Pulaski. The women and men who built this state — and whose work makes it run — deserve no less than the full support that (Loni) has demonstrated to restoring our state’s promise and creating an economy that works for all.”

Said Hancock: “It’s very important to me to insure that high quality jobs for working people are protected in our community. When Wall Street and the banks gambled with the U.S. economy and lost, it was working people who suffered – and continue to suffer – the terrible consequences.  That’s why it is so important for those of us in government to do all that we can to stimulate job creation and to insure that workers’ rights are protected.”

(Editor’s Note: The Labor Federation’s legislative scorecard shows that Hancock shares her perfect score with three other Bay Area Senate Democrats: Ellen Corbett of Hayward,  Mark DeSaulnier of Concord and Mark Leno of San Francisco. Fourteen Assembly Democrats also have perfect scores, six of them from the Bay Area. No press releases from the six GOP senators who never voted with the federation in 2011 on the 33 bills were immediately forthcoming.)
